| Struggling through another night with insomnia. So what do you do when you can't sleep? Well, what better way than to spend it on Xanga! (I know. I'm a dork =/)
Anyway, I thought I'd let you in on this revival thing that's goin' on THIS SATURDAY night. Here are the details. I'll be there, so if you see me, mention this Xanga entry...and...I'll give you something...yeah, that's right...I'll give you something...for free too...I'll give you a hug. Come for your hug...stay for your soul.
*Limit 1 hug per household while supplies last. Offer ends Saturday, February 17 at 11:59 CST. The hugger and huggie reserve the right to refuse any hugs that night. If the huggie refuses John, he will go home and cry himself to sleep...and then, remember Jesus, His valentine for like forever, loves him
[LJ has] organized a revival night named "Copernicus Revolution." (*Note: Anytime you see "I", that's "LJ"...not "me" )
Before I (<-- yeah, that would be LJ) go any further, I (LJ; you get the point =)) would like to first take a moment to share the heart behind this exciting night. As I have grown older in my spiritual walk, I am able to see other believers who have been struggling in their own walk with Christ. It is truly a heartbreaking sight to see believers embracing their doubts about God, as they struggle to live a life centered around Him. I, too, have had these same doubts, and once I realized them in my own life, I was able to see the destructive power of those doubts in our relationship with God. This night is about overcoming any doubts that may linger in our hearts; in order that we might fully understand that there is a real and true God who desires to be at the very center of our lives. If this is something that has been on your heart as well, I invite you, your ministry, and your friends to come join me in this night of revival. Below is a brief description of the theme of the night. After reading the description, PLEASE read on.
Up until the 16th century, the world was certain that the universe revolved around the Earth. It wasn't until a young astronomer named Copernicus defied common logic and dared to claim that the planets, including earth, actually revolved around the Sun. The Copernicus Revolution, as it would later come to be known, would go on to forever shape the course of history as we know it.
Today, the circumstances may be different, but not much has changed since Copernicus' time and ours. The world continues to believe in a universe that revolves around themselves, rather than God. Even more alarming is that this is not something exclusive to unbelievers, but it is an ongoing spiritual battle that the children of God often find themselves wrestling with as well. As we lose sight of a God-centered life, our doubts inevitably cloud our hearts from seeing a wonderful God who has a very specific plan for our lives. However, the beautiful news of the gospel is that, in spite of our doubts, our God longs for nothing more than to bless us with wondrous gifts as we shape our lives around who He is. Once again, I invite you to join us, as one body, as we overcome our doubts and commit to centering our lives around Jesus Christ. Imagine the spiritual revolution that can occur if we dare to stand up for Christ and deny the world's logic... so let us to boldly claim the supremacy and sufficiency of God to the world! _______________________________________________________________________

| The Super Bowl. After the Super Bowl, people were probably either sad, happy, angry, frustrated, or just didn't care. I was a little disappointed, but if there was one team I wouldn't mind the Bears losing to, it would be the Indianapolis Colts, led by head coach Tony Dungy (the first African-American head coach to win the Super Bowl ) and Peyton Manning (you know...if you like 6'5" quarterbacks, rocket, laser arm ). The Bears had a great season. It didn't end the way a lot of us would have hoped to, but we were NFC champions and we have a good shot in the weaker NFC to get back. Huge ups to both teams and especially to both head coaches, Bears head coach Lovie Smith and Colts head coach Tony Dungy. They may be the head coaches of their respective NFL teams, but they BOTH know that God is really the One in charge. Check it out:
"Once you get to a point where you know that God is in control of your life, you can enjoy everyday...Things that come up, they are minor in the big picture of things...when you know what the ending is...and the ending for all of us as Christians...will be successful." --Bears head coach Lovie Smith
"A lot of times, you get to see the true person when you go through storms." --Lovie Smith
"I start my morning off each day the same way...of reading the Bible...it seems like everyday, God tells me something that will help me during the day." --Lovie Smith
"The inspiration for my coaching model comes from Jesus Himself." --Colts head coach Tony Dungy
"And that's the awesome thing about God. He had that choice...and He said yes, I'm going to do it...with Jesus on the Cross...and because He said yes...that's paved the way for us to come back into relationship with Him...that's paved the way for us to see changed lives...that lets us know with a certainty, that we can live in Heaven...and that's my prayer today, that everyone in this room would know that same thing." --Tony Dungy
All the above quotes are taken from www.beyondtheultimate.com
AMAZING website (thanks Silvia and thanks GOD)!
VIDEOS: Be sure to check out the Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith videos from last year's Super Bowl in Detroit (the Steelers won). (*edit: When you watch Tony Dungy's video, I think it would help to know that his son, James, died in December of 2005)
ULTIMATE PERFORMERS: If you click on the "Ultimate Performers" link, you can read more on Tony Dungy, Lovie, Bears WR Mark Bradley, Colts TE Dallas Clark, Colts C Jeff Saturday, and this guy I've NEVER heard of--John St. Clair (supposedly, an OT for the Bears ).
ARTICLES: If you click on the "What is Beyond the Ultimate?" link, you'll find articles on:
- "Is There a God?"
- "Beyond Blind Faith"
- "Where is God in the Midst of Tragedy?"
CLOSING COMMENT: More than for a Super Bowl win, I'm stayin' hungry for Jesus baby!

| All the Chicago Bear hype and craziness has reminded me once again that God has created each human being with a capacity to worship. If you don't believe me, check out the lady who is selling advertising space on her pregnant belly to get Super Bowl tickets: http://www.superbowlbelly.com
Chicago Bears-crazed fans will almost do anything, pay thousands of dollars, and sacrifice anything from work, to family, to pride and even belly space to pay homage to the Bears, a football team. Think about it. A sports team. In an ideal world, Christians would show the world what worship means, but in reality, it's the other way around. The world's worship often shows our worship up...straight up...just keepin' it real. Come on now. It's tough to get a congregation just to clap along to a worship song sometimes. There is more clapping and passion after a Bears turnover or touchdown than after hearing how much God loves us. I'll be the first one to admit I get excited about the Bears, but I honestly want to make sure I get more excited about God. I'll tell you why. The Bears have never died for me. The Bears, also human and imperfect, could never forgive all of my sins. The Bears don't know EVERYTHING about me, good AND bad, and STILL LOVE ME! None of the Bears even knows who I am, for crying out loud!
I've been a Chicago sports fan my whole life and have followed the Bears since the early 90's up 'til now. I know how 20-something quarterbacks have started for the Bears since Jim McMahon took the Bears to and won the Super Bowl in 1986. I remember watching Mike Tomczak, Harbaugh, Erik Kramer, Steve Walsh, Dave Krieg, Rick Mirer, Cade, Slash, Moses Moreno, Henry Burris, Jim Miller, Shane Matthews, Hutchinson, Krenzel, Orton, etc...and now...Rex Grossman. The Bears have been looking for a Jim McMahon, Sid Luckman-like "savior" at the starting quarterback position for the last 20+ years. I tell you what, not too many people have faith in Rex Grossman, but you never know. He may surprise a lot of people in Super Bowl XLI down in Miami. Even if Rex Grossman leads the Bears to a Super Bowl victory, I'll let you in on a secret: he's not the "savior" you've been looking for. He's not Jesus. Rex Grossman may throw touchdowns, but only Jesus throws and washes your sins away. Rex Grossman may turn the ball over, but only Jesus turns your life around. Rex Grossman may help Chicago win a Super Bowl championship, but only Jesus promises eternal salvation and victory over sin and death. Which Savior will you worship? Which Savior will you sacrifice your life for? I don't know about you, but I'm laying my life down for the One who laid HIS life down for me...and for you.
And now...for your Xanga reading pleasure...I give you...The Super Bowl Shuffle '06-'07 THE REMIX sent to me by my little bro Paul. Thanks bro and thank God! Go Bears...and even if the Bears don't win ...go God!
